August 10, 1999 Get up offa that thing, and dance till you feel better! Yeeaow! Summer is winding down and the time for school is fast approaching. I don't think I've been this excited for school to start since first grade. The desire to get back to Ann Arbor, set up my house and begin classes is bubbling inside me like alka-seltzer in a fresh glass of water. I don't know what is making me so so excited; I think it's a combination of several things. My summer job has shown me just how important it is to learn both inside and outside of school (cause I think a few people around here have forgotten to do either). I'm taking some very interesting classes this semester, including Natural Language Processing, which should more than help to stomach the one I don't really want to take. School is good, good, good. I think a big chunk of my excitement is just the going back to Ann Arbor part. I love living there. Love it. Ann Arbor is a great place and having good friends around makes everything fabulous. I really hope I am working myself up in a good way. I've been looking around my apartment and packing things up in my head. Last night when I got home, I saw my basil plant looking sad, dry and limp on the window sill. I thought that it was nature's way of letting me know that I wasn't taking this plant home, but I decided to water it anyway. It had perked up quite a bit by this morning, which is good because at least it'll give me a chance to use up the basil even if I don't decide to bring the plant back with me.
I'd really like to have a small kitchen garden in my house this year, but
I'll have to see if it's economical both financially and space-wise. Hmm.
I've been interested in hydroponics ever since I went on "The Land" ride
at Epcot when I was four or so. I've been back to Epcot a few times since,
and "The Land" remains one of my favorite things to see or do. "Kitchen
Cabaret" was a favorite as well, but they've changed the show since they
first started and it's not as good anymore. Actually, I think they
might've gotten rid of it. Silly people.
