Happy 5th of July!!! What a weekend! Saturday was the big IKEA trip. Very exciting. Jeremie and I left here around 5 in the morning and got to Chicago in exactly 5 hours. Ikea is HUGE. Actually, it is beyond huge. What don't they have? We got a ton of stuff. Chairs for our dinner table, (hopefully we'll get legs soon), organizing stuff, a funky euro-style chair & ottoman for the living room, a dresser, lamps, cutting boards, kitchen knick-knacks, and all sorts of other necessary stuff. We left there around 3 and proceeded back to Michigan, hampered only by a wee 36 MILE BACKUP coming out of Chicago. I guess that the 4th of July weekend is a popular time to go to your summer cottage, eh? Sunday was taken up with beingindetroit and shopping for a suit for Jeremie. We got home late-ish, yet for some reason we decided to put Ikea stuff together. For any of you who are planning trips to Ikea for furniture buying, here is a little lesson: Ikea is always right. Their directions do not lie. It is you who is stoopid and put that piece on the wrong way. There. Skip Monday. I put together my dresser and went to work. Real exciting. Tuesday=4thofJuly=DayOff. Yay! I watched the parade in the morning and then I baked 2 loaves of bread: cinnamon and cheddar-dill. They both came out well. The cinnamon loaf puffed up like a big turban. It was really cool. I cooked a bunch of other stuff yesterday as well. We ended up doing dishes at least 3 times. Insanity! To celebrate the holiday, Jeremie and I went to his parents house for a barbeque and fireworks. The fireworks were really good. The show was at least 30 minutes and Old Navy was there handing out kazoos beforehand, which definitely helped to keep me occupied before the show. I swear, sometimes you'd think I was 6.
