Last night I added another thing to my list of "things I promise I'll never do again". As I live downtown now, my apartment does not come with a parking spot. Fortunatly, I was able to get a parking permit in a lot a couple of blocks away. However, Sunday night I got lazy and last night I paid for it. There is a surface lot behind my house. It is quite large and it has free parking on Sundays. Sunday evening I went grocery shopping after a very long day of moving with a Uhaul. When I got back to the apartment it was around 10 pm. I just wanted to go inside and put the groceries away and watch iron chef. I parked in the lot behind our apartment for the time being and told myself that I would move my car after Iron Chef. Of course, one thing led to another and I forgot to move my car. Monday morning I woke up, realized what had happened and kicked myself repeatedly for it. I couldn't just leave the lot, because now the parking attendant was there and without a ticket, they would charge me a pile of money if I left. I would have to wait until 1am or so when the attendant left and the lot was open, before I could leave. Monday I went to work, did the usual thing, came home, worked on some other stuff and went to bed exhausted at about 12:30 am. Tuesday morning I woke up and realized that I had forgotten about my car YET AGAIN. Now things were becoming serious. I had to get my car out of the lot Tuesday night or risk being towed on Wednesday, as they tow after 72 hours. So, after a full day of work, etc, etc, I waited up until 1am to move my car. The attendant was still there. 2am. The attendant was still there. 3am. The attendant was still there. I began to wonder what kind of a wacko was waiting down there to torment me. Around 3:30 Jeremie told me to take a little nap and he'd wake me up when the attendant left. Jeremie was up working on work things, so everything would be ok. He woke me up at 5:30 when he was sure that the attendant had gone. Jeremie said he saw the guy have a bunch of friends over, play hacky sack, etc. What a nut!!! So finally, at 5:30 am we moved the car into the lot that I have a permit for, and quickly returned to the apartment for some sleep. If I ever do that again, just shoot me.
